FINISHED DOLLS
OPEN
SHUT
I took this idea for the paper dolls from project 3, and thought just the dolls wouldn't be enough so I thought I would make it look like a puppet show.
I was planning on doing a shakespearean scene and originally it was going to be watercolor, but I wasn't feeling motivated to paint it, so I went with the easier and more cohesive option of marker, since I colored the dolls with marker.
This whole project was really hard. I had to find the right size for the dolls to be able to make their joints, but not look too big for the scene. Making the curtains move for the stage was also really complicated. I had to figure out how to make the curtains move, how to keep the curtains from falling out when they were open, how to make them stable enough where they would be able to slide back and forth without bending or ripping.
Materials Used: Alcohol marker, foam board, matte board
Dimensions: 18x11
Guiding Question: How can I convey intimate emotion in a single scene?
